Faro Santander, David Chipperfield, and Erretres

Erretres collaborated with Banco Santander on the identity for Faro Santander, a new cultural space designed by Pritzker-winning architect David Chipperfield. The project bridges history and future through art, technology, and the brand’s deep connection to its hometown.
A new cultural landmark in Santander, where architecture, brand, and community converge

David Chipperfield is an international reference of contemporary architecture. The 2023 Pritzker winner works globally from his studios in London, Berlin, Milan, and Shanghai to imbue new life into buildings with a meticulous respect for essence and history.

In March 2023 Chipperfield accompanied Ana Botín, the Executive Chair of Banco Santander, for the presentation of the Faro Santander project. This will be a brand new space for art, technology, and culture conceived by finance giant and located within its iconic Pereda Building.

The historical setting will serve as a hotspot for the brand’s hometown: a place where past and future collide through arts and technology, an open space for citizens, and a celebration of the city of Santander’s culture.

We worked alongside Banco Santander to create a brand inspired by Chipperfield’s approach and the art collection that the building would host. A thorough understanding of the building’s evolution in terms of architecture and the storytelling behind its new offering was key to connecting citizens, artists, and people with the Banco Santander brand.

It was a story of the company's origin, but also its future.
